...the more
So I am thinking that these people with the implanted chips would be called Chippies and they would have all the same knowledge at their fingertips and even be able to jack into the net as all the cyberpunk stuff likes to say but what would make this new or interesting? What would sell the story to an editor? I like the idea of the Chippies being in charge or different or bossy over the "non-Chippies"--got to have a better name there. Can't use Augments--Star Trek did that already. I am wondering if anyone reads this and if s/he might want to contribute a name?

Tools for Chipped. Livestock for the unchipped?
The Brains for the ones with the chips, and the Kisers for the ones without.
I am thinking that Kisers for the ones without the brains just might work but then I am worried that Oryx and Crake, by margaret Atwood, is influencing me too much since everyone dies in the end except the Crakers...Kisers...just too close. Livestock for the unchipped. I like it. Food for the priveleged!!!!
I like the livestock idea!
When I'm not in pain I'll contribute a bit more. You know me. *sigh*
Oh, and if you are interested in historical fantasy at all, I've recently finished a magnificent book.
I say go back to something ancient - like the last generation in Children of Men were "Omega".
So here's something I've never gotten a straight answer for - What would you call The Handmaids Tale and Children of Men? Are they science fiction? Futuristic? Is there another genre/label for those kind of stories that are not technology based? Non-galactic?
Lela, that stuff is speculative science fiction which just takes present day stuff and wonders what the future will be like. Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood, who also wrote The Handmaid's Tale, is a work that speculates about the future. That is still sci-fi and thanks for posting, by the way!!!
